Public Involvement
The N.C. Department of Transportation held a workshop in Murphy on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at Murphy First Baptist Church to provide an overview of the project and receive comments on the proposed design options being studied as well as safety and operational improvements to U.S. 64.
Forty-seven property owners, business owners, municipal officials and other interested parties attended the workshop. NCDOT received 18 comment sheets during the workshop and two subsequent comments via email. The comments and questions focused on enforcement of the speed limit, support for Alternative 2, impacts to businesses, and a request for wider lanes.
