U.S. 70 Improvements at Brier Creek Parkway & T.W. Alexander Drive

Planning is underway to make improvements to U.S. 70 (Glenwood Avenue) from west of T.W. Alexander Drive to I-540, in Durham and Wake counties.

The proposed work will address existing traffic congestion, future traffic congestion, poor traffic flow, the high number of vehicle crashes and will include adding interchanges at various locations.  Traffic conditions are anticipated to worsen if no action is taken.

The proposed project is being developed in conjunction with additional proposed improvements to U.S. 70 between T.W. Alexander Drive in Raleigh and Lynn Road in Durham.

Project Funding

This project is listed as Project U-5518 in the N.C. Department of Transportation's State Transportation Improvement Program and is funded for $559.4 million.​​
