MORRISVILLE – Work that is part of the project to extend Louis Stephens Drive under the Triangle Expressway will require twice daily slow-rolling roadblocks.
Beginning Monday, crews will begin excavating rock to allow for the roadway to be built beneath the existing bridge. Some of the work will involve blasting to loosen the rock. Slow-rolling roadblocks on the Expressway will keep motorists a safe distance away during the blasting.
The rolling roadblocks will begin Monday and continue until Dec. 12. They will occur twice a day, except for Sundays and Thanksgiving weekend, at approximately 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. for 10 minutes at a time.
The Triangle Expressway will be closed between Exits 66 and 67 during the roadblocks.
Like many similar projects, the schedule and timing of the excavation and rolling roadblocks will be weather dependent.
