RALEIGH – The following are highlights from this week at the N.C. Department of Transportation. The stories below are also featured in NCDOT Now, the department's weekly newscast.

Ferry Photo Contest

From now through Sept. 22, the N.C. Ferry Division is hosting a summertime photo contest.

Submissions will be judged by representatives from the Ferry Division and the NCDOT Communications Office. People can submit a photo for any of the following categories:

  • Ferry Memories
  • Families on the Ferry
  • Scenic Splendor
  • Enjoying the Ride
  • Four-Legged Friends

This contest is part of the ongoing 75th anniversary celebration of the Ferry Division. To learn more, or to submit a photo, visit the Ferry Division's webpage.

Disadvantaged Business Legislation

Governor Roy Cooper signed a bill last Friday that will make working easier for small, disadvantaged businesses.

The bill will allow NCDOT's Office of Civil Rights the ability to set goals and limit competition for professional service contracts to small, disadvantaged businesses.
