NCDOT Enters Military Spouse Employment Partnership

RALEIGH – The N.C. Department of Transportation is now a member of the Department of Defense’s Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP).

The partnership allows NCDOT to engage with military spouses regarding career opportunities within the state agency.

“We’re excited to enter this partnership to help connect military families to good careers and to continue to develop our workforce,” said Amanda Olive, NCDOT’s Human Resources director.

The membership comes with connections and materials to help NCDOT recruit and retain military spouses. The partnership also gives NCDOT’s Human Resources staff access to the online portal to source resumes from prospective candidates.

Since 2011, MSEP has fostered connections between military spouses, businesses, nonprofits and government partners to find employment opportunities for military families.

Alongside the new partnership, the department remains committed to military transitions and developing its workforce. In November, NCDOT was named a Military Friendly Employer for the third year in a row by Viqtory Inc., a military marketing company.

The department employs about 650 veterans and reservists, of NCDOT’s workforce of about 9,400 permanent full-time employees.

In recent years, NCDOT has increased its outreach efforts to military veterans, transitioning military and military spouses. A state law allows the department to give eligible veterans preference in hiring over other applicants.

The department is always looking to recruit talented employees and fill vacancies across its various divisions. Interested individuals can go online to find NCDOT openings.
