Nash County Highway Requires Overnight Closures

ROCKY MOUNT – U.S. 64 at Exit 463 will close nightly for the next 10 days for construction.

The N.C. Department of Transportation contractor widening North Old Carriage Road over U.S. 64 needs to temporarily close the highway to remove the old bridge.

Traffic has recently been shifted into a two-lane pattern onto the new portion of the North Old Carriage Road bridge. Crews need to remove the old bridge, which was built in 1960, so they can continue constructing what will be a four-lane bridge at this exit.

Both directions of U.S. 64 will close at the same time from May 1 until May 10, from 10 p.m. until 5 each morning.

During these closures, drivers will take this same exit and use the on-ramp to re-enter the highway.

Drivers should allow for extra time for their commute and use caution when traveling near the work. The NCDOT webpage provides more information about this project.
