RALEIGH - The North Carolina Turnpike Authority is continuing construction activities on the extension of the Triangle Expressway (Toll N.C. 540) from N.C. 55 Bypass to Interstate 40.
Toll N.C. 540 Eastbound Exit 36 to access I-42 Eastbound and I-40 Westbound is scheduled to temporarily close to traffic overnight on or around Sunday, October 5, from 8:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. the following morning.
Drivers wishing to access I-42 Eastbound from Toll N.C. 540 Eastbound will use the following detour route:
- Continue driving east on Toll N.C. 540
- Take the I-40 East exit
- Travel east on I-40
- Take Exit 312 to access I-42
- Continue travelling Eastbound on Highway 42 to access I-42 Eastbound
Drivers wishing to access I-40 Westbound from Toll N.C. 540 Eastbound will use the following detour route:
- Continue driving east on Toll N.C. 540
- Take the I-40 East exit
- Travel east on I-40
- Take Exit 312 to access I-42
- Immediately take the exit ramp to access I-40 Westbound
- Continue traveling on I-40 West
