GREENVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation recently awarded a contract to widen a section of Allen Road in Pitt County.
The contract will widen approximately 2.4 miles of Allen Road from two lanes to a four-lane, median-divided roadway from Stantonsburg Road to Dickinson Avenue Extension (U.S. 13) in Greenville.
The improvements also include upgrading the intersections at Allen and Stantonsburg roads and Allen Road and Dickinson Avenue Extension.
NCDOT awarded the $47 million contract to Barnhill Contracting Co., which can begin construction as early as Dec. 1. The project is expected to be completed in late 2029.
