Project OverviewPlanning and development are underway on a proposed project to widen approximately 2.3 miles of Allen Road from two lanes to a four-lane, median-divided roadway from Stantonsburg Road to Dickinson Avenue Extension (U.S. 13) in Greenville.
Proposed improvements include upgrading the intersections at Allen and Stantonsburg roads and Allen Road and Dickinson Avenue Extension, and installing bicycle lanes and sidewalks.
The proposed project would improve traffic flow and safety on Allen Road. The roadway is nearing its capacity, meaning that it can no longer handle the amount of daily traffic. The project would also provide relief from projected traffic growth.
Project Funding
This project is listed as Project U-5875 in the
N.C. Department of Transportation's State Transportation Improvement Program and is funded for $45.8 million. The cost is estimated and subject to change.
