Construction is underway to widen approximately 2.3 miles of Allen Road from three lanes to a four-lane, median-divided roadway from Stantonsburg Road to Dickinson Avenue Extension (U.S. 13) in Greenville.
NCDOT’s
preferred design widens Allen Road mostly to the east. The design, one of two considered for the project, was chosen based on public comment and the findings of an environmental assessment that looked at the impacts each design would have on natural resources, cultural resources, landowners and utilities.
