RALEIGH -
The North Carolina Turnpike Authority is continuing construction on the eastern portion of the Complete 540 project, Phase 2. This project will extend the Triangle Expressway (Toll N.C. 540) from the I-40/I-42/Toll N.C. 540 interchange near Garner and Clayton to the existing I-540/I-87/U.S. 64/U.S. 264 interchange in Knightdale, providing the missing link to complete the outer 540 loop around the greater Raleigh area.
On February 10, crews started conducting nighttime earthwork hauling operations across Poole Road. From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night, flaggers have been and will continue to direct traffic on Poole Road between Stony Falls Way and Riverdale Street to allow trucks to safely cross Poole Road.
The crossings are expected to continue over the next several months as construction progresses. The crossings are weather‑dependent, and drivers should use caution in the area and follow the direction of flaggers.
