U.S. 15-501 (Hillsboro Street) Widening

6/18/2019 7:00 PM

STIP Number R-5724

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to widen approximately 1.4 miles of U.S. 15-501 (Hillsboro Street) between Launis Street and Powell Place Lane as part of roadway improvement project in Pittsboro.

The proposed project would widen the existing undivided, two-lane typical section south of U.S. 64 to a three-lane roadway. It would provide one lane in each direction with a continuous center turn lane, curb, gutter, a sidewalk on the west side and a multi-use path on the east side. Intersections with collector roads will also be upgraded. The project is included in the 2018-2027 State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) with construction planned for fiscal year 2021.

A public meeting is scheduled for:

Tuesday, June 18, 2019
4-7 p.m.
Forest Hall at Chatham Mills
480 Hillsboro St.

The purpose of this meeting is to inform the public of the project and gather input on the proposed design.

The public may attend at any time during the public meeting hours, as no formal presentation will be made.
