Planning and development are underway on a proposed road in Salisbury that would stretch from U.S. 70/U.S. 601 (Jake Alexander Boulevard), near Brenner Avenue, to the Cedar Springs Road/U.S. 29/Peeler Road intersection.
Called Airport Parkway, the four-mile road would help improve traffic flow, safety and improve access to southwest Salisbury and the Mid-Carolina Regional Airport.
It would also allow for better transportation options for those living and working in the area by addressing pedestrian, bicycle and transit needs.
This project is listed as Project U-5901 in the
N.C. Department of Transportation's State Transportation Improvement Program and is funded for $33.4 million.
