Construction is underway to improve 1.3 miles of Dickinson Avenue from N.C. 11 (Memorial Drive) to Reade Circle. This project is a collaboration involving the N.C. Department of Transportation and the city of Greenville.

Work will improve and repair the storm drainage system, which is deficient and has caused flooding and cracks in the pavement.

It will also improve curbs and  gutters, repave the roadway and replace the subgrade – dirt, rock, gravel, sand, and soil underneath the pavement. These repairs will also help reduce flooding on Dickinson Avenue. In addition, water and sewer lines will be replaced.

Existing sidewalks are located on both sides of Dickinson Avenue from the intersection with Moye Boulevard/Hooker Road to the intersection with Reade Circle, but the widths vary, and the condition of the sidewalks are poor in many areas. This project will improve the existing sidewalks within the corridor.
