Early development
Design was initiated in 2019 with traffic studies and forecasting completed in June 2019. The best fit alignment was approved February 2021. A traffic analysis was completed in June 2021. Environmental document is currently under development and planned to be completed in April 2022.
Public Involvement
The N.C. Department of Transportation held a virtual public meeting on Dec. 7, 2021. Department representatives provided an update on the project starting with a video update of current project status in the design process and a video fly through of the proposed design. This was followed by a question-and-answer session. Public comment was taken until Jan. 7, 2022.
