The N.C. Department of Transportation is currently conducting engineering and environmental studies for corridor improvements to N.C. 54 from U.S. 15/501 in Chapel Hill to N.C. 55 in Durham.
Corridor improvements within the study area could involve a variety of strategies such as roadway widening, intersection improvements, grade separations, interchange upgrades and optimizing traffic signal timing.
NCDOT is coordinating with local stakeholders and developing preliminary designs for alternatives within the corridor.
