The Burlington-Graham Metropolitan Planning Organization's Comprehensive Transportation Plan (released in 2011) and the Long-Range Transportation Plan (released in 2007) identify the need for widening N.C. 62 to four lanes from I-40/I-85 to U.S. 70.
Planning, design and environmental studies for the project were initiated in early 2016.
Public Workshop Held
The N.C. Department of Transportation held a workshop on May 15, 2017, to receive comments from the public on the proposed widening of N.C. 62 (Alamance Road) from Ramada Road to U.S. 70 (Church Street).
Workshop participants viewed a brief presentation, reviewed informational boards, and participated in guided activities to provide specific feedback on community resources and use of the N.C. 62 corridor.
The opportunity to provide written comments was provided at the meeting, and comments were requested to be submitted by June 2, 2017.
