U.S. 70 Designated as Future I-42
In May 2016, the American Association of State and Transportation Officials approved the U.S. 70 Corridor to be designated future I-42 between I-40 and Morehead City.
Goldsboro Bypass Complete
The 11.9-mile third and final section of the Goldsboro Bypass opened May 27, 2016, completing the 20-mile bypass around Goldsboro. A 3.9-mile central section opened in December 2011, and a 5.9-mile western section opened in October 2015.
