Amanda Olive is the Chief Human Resources Officer for the N.C. Department of Transportation.
Olive began her career at NCDOT in 1997 and has held various roles in Human Resources. She has served as an analyst, assistant manager, manager, HR Operations manager and the HR Policy manager for the Classification and Compensation Unit.
Prior to becoming Chief Human Resources Officer, Olive served as Human Resources director and deputy director. In these roles, Olive oversaw all aspects of HR and safety. Those areas included Safety and Risk Management, HR Special Programs, Qualification Review and Salary Administration, Policy Administration and Benefits, DOT HR Recruitment Programs, Classification and Compensation Unit, Employee Relations and Learning Management and Leadership Development.
Olive also currently serves as the Human Resources Chair on the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials Committee.
Olive has always had a deep-rooted passion for ensuring NCDOT recruits and retains the best workforce possible. She enjoys initiatives and projects that allow HR to achieve this goal while taking unique and innovative approaches.
Olive received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from N.C. State University and a Master of Business Administration from Pfeiffer University.
Olive lives on a working family farm in Smithfield. The farm has been in the Olive family since the 1840s.
