The 2020-2029 State Transportation Improvement Program is made up of 1,718 projects, including 399 non-highway projects (e.g. aviation, public transit, rail, ferry, and bicycle/pedestrian), in every county across the state. Most of these projects were identified through the data-driven scoring approach called Strategic Prioritization.
Also included in the total number of projects are interstate maintenance, bridge, and safety projects that are prioritized under what are called "alternate criteria." Alternate criteria projects undergo a separate prioritization process.
