RALEIGH – The following are highlights from this week at the N.C. Department of Transportation. The stories below are also featured in

NCDMV ID Renewal Online
The
N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles has expanded its online services and now customers can renew state-issued identification cards.
Individuals with a state-issued ID can skip making an office appointment and renew online by going to
payments.ncdot.gov and following the instructions. State-issued IDs can be renewed up to six months before they expire but can’t be renewed online if the card has already expired.
NCDMV already
offers online access for many services, including driver license renewals, duplicate licenses and ID cards, driver license office appointments, and registration renewals and property tax payments.
3 Million Pounds of Litter Collected
As part of ongoing liter removal efforts, NCDOT crews, contractors and volunteers have now collected more than 3 million pounds of litter from state-maintained roadsides this year.
Litter is unsightly, costs millions of dollars to clean up and can hurt the environment, tourism and the state’s quality of life.

Spring Litter Sweep Begins This Weekend
As a reminder, there’s still time to be a part of the effort to help keep North Carolina roads clean!
You can volunteer for the upcoming spring Litter Sweep, which starts Saturday and runs through April 24. Volunteers are provided cleanup supplies, such as trash bags, gloves, and orange safety vests. To sign up and participate, go to
