Fall Litter Sweep Begins This Weekend
NCDOT's
Fall Litter Sweep runs Sept. 16 - 30.
In 2022, nearly 11.6 million pounds of litter was collected, costing NCDOT more than $22 million on litter management.
“We have to change a mindset and we have to change the lack of pride," said Loretta Melancon. She volunteers with Union County Litter Busters.

Special Train Stop for Fall Events
NCDOT’s Rail Division announced NC By Train, the state’s passenger rail service, will make
special stops at this year’s North Carolina State Fair and Lexington Barbeque Festival in October.

DBE Meetings This Month
The Office of Civil Rights is working hard to connect with firms statewide on contracting opportunities with the department. Twice this month, NCDOT will host outreach meetings to educate disadvantaged business enterprises.

WomenConnect Event
NCDOT is providing a new resource for a core group of its employees. The NCDOT WomenConnect Employee Resource group met for the first time recently, with dozens of people in attendance. The group was formed with goals of inspiring, connecting and supporting women in achieving career and personal success within the department.
