Kinston Bypass

​​​STIP Number R-2553

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to build the Kinston Bypass​, a four-lane, median divided freeway (accessible via ramps at interchanges) that extends 22 miles from U.S. 70 near La Grange (in Lenoir County) to U.S. 70 near Dover (on the Jones-Craven county line).​

A public meeting is scheduled for:

*Another public meeting will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17 and an open house and public hearing will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

The purpose of this meeting is to inform the public about ​the release of the Draft Environmental ​Impact Statement​​ and the several alternatives under consideration.

NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive comments relative to the proposed project. ​​

Hardcopies of maps of the project and the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, are available for review in person at the following locations:

​Public Comment

NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive comments. The comments and information received will be taken into consideration as work on the project develops.

The opportunity to submit written comments will be provided at the meeting or can be submitted via phone, email or mail by Sept. 17, 2019.
