Kinston Bypass (Public Hearing)

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to build the Kinston​ Bypass​, a four-lane, median divided freeway (accessible via ramps at interchanges) that extends 22 miles from U.S. 70 near La Grange (in Lenoir County) to U.S. 70 near Dover (on the Jones-Craven county line).​

An open house, pre-hearing open house and a formal presentation & public hearing​ is scheduled for:

Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019*
Open House: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Pre-Hearing Open House: 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Formal Presentation & Public Hearing: 7 p.m.

*Public meetings will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17 and Monday, Aug. 19 as well.

The purpose of this meeting is to inform the public about ​the release of the Draft Environmental Impact​ Statement​​ and the several alternatives under consideration.

These documents were relevant for this public hearing in 2019, see the project site for the latest information.

NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive comments relative to the proposed project. ​​

​Public Comment

NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive comments. The comments and information received will be taken into consideration as work on the project develops.

The opportunity to submit written comments will be provided at the meeting or can be submitted via phone, email or mail by Sept. 17, 2019.
