Improvements along U.S. 64 in Apex and Cary arises from several studies by the N.C. Department of Transportation to improve mobility and safety, including the 2011 U.S. 64 Chatham-Wake County Planning Study (Phase IIA). This study identified recommended improvements along U.S. 64 from U.S. 64 Business, just east of Pittsboro, to U.S. 1 in Cary.
The 2011 U.S. 64 Planning Study served as the foundation for the U.S. 64 improvement recommendations that are included in the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization’s
Regional Metropolitan Transportation Plan and comprehensive transportation plans for the towns of
Apex and
Cary Comprehensive Transportation Plans.
Current Environmental & Design Study
As such, in developing solutions for the traffic, connectivity, and safety challenges, stakeholder input and recommendations from these studies are being reviewed and carefully examined to see how they can be incorporated into this study.
