What is a Government Operator?
Government entities that use UAS/drone technology to carry out their functions. This includes public schools and universities.
Federal Restrictions & Requirements
- Government UAS/drone can operate under 14 CFR Part 107, also known as the Small UAS Rule, as of August 29th, 2016.
- As an alternative to operating under Part 107, a government operator may obtain a federal Certificate of Authorization (COA) from the FAA. The FAA reviews all COA applications on a case-by-case basis.
