Official NCDMV: Driver License Office Appointments

The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles offers appointments at driver license offices. Appointments can be made up to seven days in advance, with new ones released each weekday, unless the seventh day falls on a state holiday. Appointments are not available at license plate agencies.

Appointment confirmation and reminder

After scheduling your office appointment online, you will receive a text message and/or email with a confirmation link. You will need to confirm your appointment within 15 minutes of receiving the link or your appointment will be cancelled. You will receive a reminder the day before your scheduled appointment, which will include a link to cancel if needed.

North Carolina REAL ID

If you are interested in getting a North Carolina REAL ID enhancement for your North Carolina driver license or ID card, you will need to select one of the following choices in the appointment scheduler:

Driver License – First time (you will be getting a North Carolina license for the first time)
Driver License Duplicate (you will be replacing your license)
Driver License Renewal (you will be renewing your license)
ID Card

CDL road tests

Appointments for CDL road tests cannot be made online. To make an appointment for a CDL road test only, please call NCDMV Customer Service at 919-715-7000.

Those requiring an ASL or language interpreter to assist them during their DMV transaction can request these services online.

Why can't I look up my appointment by my email address?
Currently, this feature is not offered. Appointments can only be looked up using the telephone number you made the appointment with.
