In an effort to shorten lines and wait times at offices across the state, and to provide services outside of typical office hours, the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is piloting the use of self-service kiosks in grocery stores.
NCDMV Express self-service kiosks are now available at the following locations (Kiosks will be unavailable Sundays from midnight to noon due to maintenance.):
Customers can complete the following transactions at kiosks:
- Renew driver license/state ID and print temporary certificate (You cannot renew at a kiosk if you renewed online last time.)
- Order replacement driver license, permit and state ID, change address and print temporary certificate (You must know your driver license/ID number to complete the transaction.)
- Renew vehicle registration and print license plate sticker and registration card
- Pay property tax on a new vehicle and print license plate sticker and registration card
- Register to vote (You must complete a driver license/ID transaction to perform this task.)
Neumo (formerly Intellectual Technology, Inc.) collects a $4.95 fee per transaction, plus a 2 percent card processing fee, that it uses to deliver quality services more efficiently with no upfront costs to NCDMV. The State of North Carolina does not collect or benefit from the transaction fee.
