Grievances

The N.C. Department of Transportation has a grievance policy and procedures to ensure the prompt and equitable resolution of complaints related to the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Issues that can be grieved include the:

  • Denial of a requested accommodation
  • Inadequacy of an accommodation
  • Inaccessibility of a program or activity due to disability or a discrimination based on a disability.

Citizens

Citizens who want to use NCDOT-maintained facilities or have access to the NCDOT's programs but believe they have been denied accommodations or have been discriminated against may file a written complaint within 180 days after becoming aware of the alleged violation.

More information about filing a complaint and the process is available in NCDOT's External Grievance Policy & Procedures or by contacting the Department's Americans with Disabilities Act coordinator.

This procedure is intended for use after all "local" attempts to resolve an issue have been exhausted.
