Multi-State Collaboratives

Multi-State Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Memorandum of Understanding

On July 15, 2020, Gov. Cooper joined a bi-partisan group of 15 states and the District of Columbia in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) committing to the electrification of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, including large pickup trucks and vans, delivery trucks, box trucks, school and transit buses, and long-haul delivery trucks. The goal is to ensure that 100 percent of all new truck and bus sales are zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) by 2050, with an interim target of 30 percent by 2030.

To help meet these goals, North Carolina and the other signatories are working through a Multi-State ZEV Task Force to develop a Multi-State Medium- and Heavy-Duty ZEV Action Plan.

Southeast Regional Electric Vehicle Information Exchange

The Southeast Regional Electric Vehicle Information Exchange (SE REVI) is a collaboration of 11 states and territories, including North Carolina, collaborating together on EV infrastructure planning, policy development and program implementation. States and territories participating in SE REVI have launched a multi-state Electric Vehicle (EV) Infrastructure Map to coordinate EV infrastructure investments. This interactive map utilizes various data, including locations of current and planned Level 2 and DC (direct current) fast chargers, state and national parks, Federal Highway Administration-designated Alternative Fuel Corridors, hurricane evacuation routes, social equity data, and electric service provider territories.
