Due to damage caused by Hurricane Dorian and the closure of N.C. 12 on Ocracoke Island, the North Carolina Ferry System’s Ocracoke routes are open only to permanent Ocracoke residents, non-resident homeowners and personnel authorized by Hyde County Emergency Management. Those that have been cleared by Hyde County to access Ocracoke may call 1-800-BY-FERRY for reservations. Read more.
Service for five of North Carolina's seven ferry routes is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The N.C. Ferry Division, however, does accept reservations up to 90 days in advance for service on the popular Cedar Island-Ocracoke and Swan Quarter-Ocracoke routes.
Any reservations must be claimed at least 30 minutes prior to departure to avoid cancellation.
Although optional, reservations are recommended – especially during the busy summer season – to ensure your desired departure time.
