Beginning July 1, 2026
  • High Country Gateway - Expanding service from Winston-Salem to Charlotte.
  • Mid-State Express - Expanding service from Fayetteville to Raleigh.
  • Pine Line - New service connecting Raleigh, Fayetteville and Lumberton to South Carolina and Georgia.
  • Rockfish Run - New service between Raleigh and Norvolk, Va., via Greenville.

​The N.C. Department of Transportation recognizes the importance of providing intercity bus connections between urban and rural communities throughout North Carolina. NCDOT provides funding for 13 routes that offer daily service for North Carolinians and provides connections to a larger national intercity bus network.​

NCDOT continues to expand and improve its intercity bus program each year to better serve the residents of North Carolina.

Plan Your Trip

NCDOT contracts with Greyhound Lines and Sunway Charters to operate these 13 routes to provide safe, reliable, and comfortable transportation in coach buses that include restroom facilities and are ADA accessible.​
 
Additional unsubsidized intercity bus routes not managed by NCDOT are also available. For general informational purposes, these routes are shown on the map below.
