Effective
Oct. 1, 2026, North Carolina has moved to an
all-electronic vehicle registration system, eliminating the requirement for license plate stickers and printed registration cards. This means when you register your vehicle for the first time or renew the registration,
you will no longer receive a physical license plate sticker or printed registration card in the mail after this date.
If you want a printed copy of your registration card mailed to you for an additional fee, follow the instructions below. If you do not want to pay the additional fee, you can download and print a PDF copy from our website for free.
