North Carolina's ferry system consists of 21 ferries and everyday service on seven regular routes across the Currituck and Pamlico sounds as well as the Cape Fear, Neuse and Pamlico rivers.
Two routes – Hatteras-Ocracoke and Ocracoke-Cedar Island – are officially part of the
Outer Banks National Scenic Byway

Ocracoke Express Schedule Change Effective June 16
The schedule for the Ocracoke Express passenger ferry changes, effective June 16.
Under the new schedule, the ferry will depart Hatteras at 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., with departures from Ocracoke’s Silver Lake Terminal at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
