2014 Disparity Study

Under North Carolina G.S. 136-28.4, the N.C. Department of Transportation every five years conducts a disparity study that focuses on the availability and utilization of disadvantaged, minority-owned and women-owned businesses in let contracts for planning, design, preconstruction, construction, alteration or maintenance of state transportation infrastructure.

The most recent study, completed in 2014, found ample evidence that race and gender remain barriers to the full and fair opportunity to participate in NCDOT's contracts and associated subcontracts.
