What do I need to do if I am moving within North Carolina?
Within 60 days of moving within North Carolina, if you are a license or ID holder, you must update your physical address with the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles and get a replacement license or ID. If you have a registered vehicle, you must get a replacement vehicle registration card.
1. Update your license or ID online
In many cases, you can update the address associated with your valid driver license or ID via online or by visiting a self-service kiosk and ordering a replacement card.

You can also visit an NCDMV driver license office to order a duplicate license.
2. Update your vehicle registration
Address updates for valid vehicle registrations are completed when you update your driver license information online, as it is used to verify vehicle registration.
To order a duplicate vehicle registration card online, you need the following information:
- The vehicle’s license plate number
- The last five characters of the vehicle title number, which can be found on the registration card
