The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles provides appointments for its driver license offices (appointments are not available for license plate agencies). Appointments can now be booked up to seven (7) days in advance.
New appointments are added each weekday just after midnight, unless the seventh day out occurs on a state holiday.

find, cancel or reschedule an appointment, please go to the appointment scheduler and click "Find, Cancel or Reschedule."
*Fictitious appointment entries are strongly discouraged and will be immediately cancelled by DMV upon discovery.
Appointment Confirmations & Reminders
After scheduling your office appointment online, you will receive a text message and/or email with a confirmation link.
You will need to confirm your appointment within 15 minutes of receiving the link or your appointment will be cancelled.
Four days before your appointment, you will be reminded of your appointment via text message and/or email. Please confirm your appointment by clicking the link in either message.
You will need to confirm your appointment within 24 hours of receiving the link or your appointment will be cancelled.
Please note: If you scheduled less than four days out from your appointment, a second message to confirm will not be sent.
If you are interested in getting a N.C. REAL ID enhancement for your North Carolina license or ID card, on the appointment scheduler, you will need to select one of the following choices:
- Driver License – First time (you will be getting N.C. license for the first time)
- Driver License Duplicate (you will be replacing your license)
- Driver License Renewal (you will be renewing your license)
- ID Card

CDL Road Tests
Commercial driver license road tests cannot be made online at this time. Please call 919-715-7000 to make an appointment.
Language Services
Those requiring an ASL or language interpreter can request this service online.
