The N.C. Department of Transportation's Student Volunteer Program gives students wanting to pursue careers in transportation the opportunity to explore fields of interest and to learn about areas that might be unfamiliar to them.
The program offers flexible schedules to accommodate the needs of both students and NCDOT.
There is no requirement on a minimum number of hours for the program, and participants can arrange to volunteer around school and other obligations.
NCDOT reserves the right to deny volunteer experience during times of unusually high workloads or when a student volunteer experience might cause extreme inefficiencies in the workplace and impede normal business operations.
